Entrepreneurs across Cornwall are being invited to get involved in Start-up Cornwall as part of Cornwall Business Week.
Hosted by a partnership of organisations including South West Investment Group (SWIG), Francis Clark, Outset Cornwall and Oxford Innovation, the free event takes place on Tuesday May 14 at the Lighthouse Cinema in Newquay between 2pm and 4pm.
A panel of industry experts from Cornwall and the wider United Kingdom will be sharing real world knowledge and advice to would be entrepreneurs from across the county.
John Peters, fund manager for SWIG said; “We are really excited to be able to stage this event immediately following the Finance in Cornwall seminar organised by Francis Clark.
“Cornwall has always been a hot bed of creative and talented people but often they don’t know where to go to get their ideas off the ground.
“Start up Cornwall will enable anyone with a spark of an idea to come along and meet people that can help turn that idea into a thriving and successful business.”
Chris Hassall from Outset Cornwall who provides support to new businesses said; “It’s very daunting going it alone.
“This event will enable you to meet peers and business mentors in a relaxed and fun environment and to discuss ideas to help you on your journey.
“If you are thinking about starting up a business or have always wanted to then this event is definitely for you.”
Chris Philips from Unlocking Potential will also be at the event talking about their programme to support graduate business start-ups.
The UK government believes that entrepreneurs are key to future growth and there are several schemes that it is backing to provide financial support.
Earlier this year Prime Minister David Cameron said; “It is by backing our entrepreneurs and championing small business that we can drive forward and grown the economy, and equip this country for the highly competitive era that we are in.”
