    Refining the beer festival

Client PR, Driftwood Spars / No Comments

Following their recent ‘Celebration of Beer’, the Driftwood Spars in St Agnes’ annual Bank Holiday Sausage and Ale Festival is back again this year.

Dedicated to ‘amazing beer and great food’, the festival also sees the launch of a new monthly Beer Club on Friday May 3 that will, amongst other things, explore the relationship between beer and food.

Louise Treseder, landlady for the pub and self confessed beer lover said; “For years we have known that certain wines taste better with certain foods and the same is true of beer.

“Many craft breweries are now even creating speciality ales for specific dishes.

“Our beer club will give some pointers for the discerning foodie beer drinkers such as which beers should accompany foods such as cheeses or meats.”

Louise thinks that these recent refinements in brewing will attract more women to real ale.

“Beer festivals are traditionally thought of as male dominated quaffing sessions, but with Beer Club we think that women and men alike can appreciate some of the amazing beers being brewed as part of a culinary experience.

“We have loads more planned for future club meetings with brewery tours, guest brewers and live video link ups across the world to introduce new beers and flavours all on the menu.”

The Sausage and Ale Festival this year will take place between Friday May 3 and Sunday May 5 and will feature a line-up of 40 guest ales with some brewed especially for the event.

“We have even commissioned a special sausage made with one of our own Driftwood ales for the festival and sausages platters will be served all weekend.” Added Louise.

“In addition to amazing beers and great food we will have some incredible live music throughout the weekend and an open mic session on Sunday May 5.

“It’s also Bolster weekend in St Agnes so there will street theatre outside the pub on Sunday lunchtime which is always very entertaining.”
