    And breathe….

As I typed this it was Thursday night and Mrs P and I were sat on the sofa watching trashy TV while the great and the good of Cornwall donned their fancy dresses, fancy suits and fancy dress at the Cornwall Business Awards.

So, this week has been Cornwall Business Week.

It started with a MPAD team away day on Monday.

Various school and nursery drops offs followed by a dash across town saw (most of) the team just make the train to Falmouth where we headed to the Greenbank Hotel for a morning of business development, planning and an Agile workshop with Belinda Waldock.

This was followed by a lunch at the Stable in Falmouth to celebrate a successful 2014/15.

Lunch was followed game of Linkee and a few drinks outside the Chainlocker and overlooking the docks – Nigel and Charlie were the inaugural MPAD Linkee champions.

Tuesday saw Mrs P head off early to the Lighthouse Cinema in Newquay for Francis Clark’s Finance in Cornwall seminar.

After I’d sorted the nursery and school drop off I headed to MPAD Towers for a couple of hours to finalise the presentation, print offs, sign-in sheet and name badges for the first Thrive Sustainability conference.

For the event, which was also at the Lighthouse Cinema, I’d lined up a range of speakers from businesses and organisations in Cornwall that are making a difference with sustainability on a local, regional and national level.

There were a few nerves as I look at the audience from the stage, but once the introduction had been done and I’d pressed play for the world premiere of MPAD’s How We Recycled a Hippo film on a huge cinema screen, I started to relax.

The speakers were limited to 15 minutes to keep the event short, sharp and engaging.
Rachael Bice (Local Nature Partnership), Dr Kathi Kaesehage (research graduate), Caroline Robinson (Clear Mapping Company), Richard Argall (Mojo Maritime) and Veryan Jones (Cornwall Sustainainability Awards) all kept the audience engaged, but I thought it was the Q&A session, hosted by Mark Smith (Unlocking Potential), that was the real focal point of the afternoon.

If we’d had more time then we could have easily filled it win questions and answers from the panel made up of our speakers.

The event was followed by a cream tea, which was sourced by logistics guru, John Harvey, and the leftover scones, jam and cream were also enjoyed by people of Newquay, while the rest were delivered to the homeless charity, St Petroc’s Society.

Wednesday was the Cornwall Business Fair and a chance for me to enjoy breakfast and lunch while Mrs P gave a talk on the future of comms on the Lightning Stage, and Nigel and Charlie interviewed and filmed guests and exhibitors.

And Thursday, well that was back to a normal office day and then sat on the sofa following the Cornwall Business Awards result on Twitter and drinking red wine to toast the success of our client, the Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust, which picked up three awards including Winner of Winners.

Here’s to next year – cheers!
