about & mpad team
mpad was established in 1999 as a PR and design agency by managing director Mark Picken.
The company was set up with support from the Prince’s Trust, and since then has become one of the most recognisable marketing companies in the South West.
The team is an active part of the community in Cornwall - Mark now sits on the Prince’s Trust panel while PR manager Rachel is the longest-standing committee member of the Hub, Cornwall’s business network for young people and new entrepreneurs.
mpad has now gained a strong reputation as one of the leading public relations (PR) companies in Cornwall.
Most recently, the company has been harnessing innovative ways of marketing, such as social networking, blogging, video blogging and podcasting.
After starting life in Penryn, mpad relocated to Cornwall’s capital Truro in June 2008. The move to its new headquarters in Cathedral Lane allowed mpad to expand to meet the growing demand for its marketing, public relations, advertising and design services.

I say tom-ar-toe, you say tom-ay-toe…
People often ask what the name of our company means...
Once upon a time, when Mark worked in a cupboard under the stairs, it was known as Mark Picken Advertising and Design.
Once upon a time, when Mark worked in a cupboard under the stairs, it was known as Mark Picken Advertising and Design.
The name was soon shortened to mpad (pronounced m p a d) to make it easier to say over the phone and more accessible.
Lots of people, including our favourite clients, call us "em-pad" which is fine!

Public Relations Seminars & Consultancy
As everyone knows when times are hard it’s important to continue marketing. Bill Gates famously said:
“If I were down to my last dollar, I would spend it on PR”, and he should know!

mpad holds regular PR and marketing seminars at its offices in Truro. They are a cost-effective way of allowing people to think about their marketing and introduce effective and inexpensive ways of gaining promotion.
mpad’s marketing consultants can also come and hold a seminar at your company or organisation. Training can be tailored to consider specific marketing issues.
